Vacuum is needed for many innovative, environmentally friendly technologies. The Busch Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of vacuum pumps, vacuum systems, blowers, compressors and gas abatement systems, is strongly committed to reducing energy consumption and promoting renewable energies. The company is also involved in the development of future technologies that require vacuum and could help counteract climate change.

Busch Vacuum Solutions has initiated a series of sustainability measures that the company has made binding for all of its eight production sites.

Pfeiffer’s Commitment to Innovation and Environmental Responsibility

Pfeiffer Vacuum+Fab Solutions, a member of the global Busch Group, announces that its science-based targets for reducing carbon emissions have now been officially approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Imagine a world with unlimited access to clean energy – produced without depleting natural resources and completely renewable. Scientists worldwide are working to make this a reality by replicating the same reaction that happens in our sun: nuclear fusion, capable of generating unimaginable amounts of energy.

The use of fossil fuels contributes significantly to rising carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels in the Earth’s atmosphere – one of the gases that cause the greenhouse effect and the resulting climate change. Carbon capture technology aims to help curb the further increase of carbon dioxide and mitigate global warming.

Close to their head office, the team from Busch Colombia planted 40 trees to contribute to reforestation.

Ateliers Busch built a solar plant in 2023. Since May 2024 the company can now cover almost 11% of its electrical power requirements itself.

A school in an underprivileged area of Johannesburg, children from less privileged families, classes that were far too large, and hardly any equipment: All these were bad conditions for a successful start in life for the students of Denver Primary School in Johannesburg, South Africa.

She calls it a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity": Stella Nyirenda came from Malawi to South Africa with her family in November 2013 because her parents were looking for a better education for their highly gifted daughter. Stella has been benefiting from an "Ayhan and Dr Karl Busch Scholarship" for the past two years.

On the anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, the ceremonial opening of two container schools took place in the Turkish province of Hatay. The Busch family, owners of Busch Vacuum Solutions, supported the project with a donation of 100,000 Euro.

At Busch USA, our mission extends beyond providing exceptional vacuum solutions. We also support housing initiatives that strengthen families and communities.

The Busch Group has once again donated 3,000 Euro to the women’s counseling center in Lörrach. Since 2019, the company has been regularly supporting the charity. It uses the money for its prevention projects against sexual violence, which run under the motto “courage feels good.”

Busch Vacuum Solutions is supporting the voluntary work of the Maulburg chapter of the German Red Cross (DRK), close to our headquarters, with a donation of 15,000 Euro.

Busch France has donated a medical vacuum system for the modernization of a hospital in East Congo.

In 2024, the Busch Group once again funded the Lörrach student research center with 20,000 Euro. This is in addition to its annual donation of 5,000 Euro towards phaenovum’s participation in the international robot competition RoboRave.

The women of Busch India organized a healthcare initiative on International Women’s Day, March 08, 2024, for the women of the village of Jahajgarh, near their office.

Thirteen dedicated colleagues from Busch Australia joined forces for a noble cause, participating in Australia’s largest marathon festival – the Melbourne Marathon.

Sami and Kaya Busch, along with 30 employees from Busch Vacuum Solutions, took part in this year’s STADTRADELN (city cycling) in Maulburg. From July 01 to 21, they cycled 11,783 kilometers and saved 1.908 tons of CO2 by using a bicycle instead of a car to get to work, for exercise, or on vacation. This has resulted in the company taking second place in the community.

It has been taking place in Norway for 100 years: the legendary Holmenkollstafetten sports event. This year, 14 employees of Busch Vacuum Solutions participated in the world’s largest relay race. In addition, our branch donated 10,000 Norwegian kroner (around 850 Euro) to an organization that promotes mental health in the Scandinavian country.

Once again this year, the Kids’ Days offered young participants exciting insights into the world of technology and science.

Busch Vacuum Solutions participated once again in the nationwide German Girls’ Day in 2025. Twelve girls took the opportunity to learn about technical professions at the vacuum pump manufacturer in Maulburg.

During International Breast Cancer Month, Busch Group employees from different countries organized campaign days to raise awareness of the disease and the importance of early detection. Donations were collected for organizations that aim to combat this form of cancer.

Busch GVT sponsors three young female BMX riders of the Cheshire Ghost Riders BMX Club. In doing so, the company is supporting the youth competence project organized by the police in Crewe – the town where the Busch UK production site is based.

Busch UK sponsored the football kit for the Mountsorrel Girls’ U8 Vixen football team in December as part of its commitment to supporting local communities.

“Who of you has been brave before?” asks the social educator. Children’s hands are quickly raised. Everyone wants to talk about challenges that they have bravely overcome. This is how the prevention project “Mut tut gut” (Courage feels good) starts, through which primary school children learn about their feelings and boundaries. The project is intended to strengthen primary school pupils by defending themselves against sexualized violence, if necessary, or to confide in someone. The project was initiated by the Lörrach Women’s Counseling Center near our headquarters and has been supported by our company since 2019.
